Summary

Summary

The Blue Mountain, a best-seller in Israel, recounts the story of four young Russian pioneers who immigrated to Israel before WWI. Baruch, the novel's narrator, tells the tales of three generations of villagers: enigmatic, crotchety, larger-than-life, and always memorable. Shalev's narrative is rich in history; its language hypnotic and enervating.
