Summary

Summary

Upton Sinclair was a man in search of truth, in search of knowledge, in search of a good story, and forever in search of good health. Sinclair had many chronic ailments during his life and was always looking for new ways to improve his well-being. He experimented with and explored all the trends and new ideas of the early 20th century. Sinclair spent years as a vegetarian after researching the meat packing industry for his best-selling 1906 expose, The Jungle. He learned about fasting to improve digestion and a host of other maladies. In this book he summarized and popularized the research of contemporaries who were pioneers in the movement for self-health, while passing on his personal experiences. This is not a book of medical advice and should not be read as such. It is collected wisdom and anecdotal evidence from 100+ years ago.
