Summary

Vera is determined to make amends, but breaking into the Faylands is difficult, and all her attempts to bring Ronan to her have failed. When she learns he's gone missing, she undertakes a risky mission to find him and falls into Boone's trap. He's been hunting her, and he's determined to put her and her beast down for good.

Vera is put on trial and sentenced to death, but Ronan saves her. He whisks her away to the Faylands where she learns the unsettling news that King Desmond is searching for her and comes face to face with the truth behind his disappearance, dissolving any hope of a future together.

Ronan has two months to recover the godstone and Vera refuses to let him go alone. As they search for a secret entrance into the Nighters' hideaway, they discover the king isn't the only one hunting Vera. They must take on new identities to evade capture, but the lines between reality and fantasy quickly blur.

Old passions ignite, but lies and secrecy threaten the mending trust between them. A traitor lurks among them, and war is coming. They must put their trust in one another or face an impossible choice—give up their lives and everything they hold dear, or each other.
