Summary

When Justin's childhood best friend, Kyle, calls from jail convinced someone wants him dead, Justin can't ignore him. Kyle's plea is simple: recover the money he buried years ago, track down his missing girlfriend, and post bail. The clues lead Justin to a sun-soaked paradise, but beneath the palm trees, nothing is what it seems.

At the same time, Justin and the International Investigators are working a cold case involving a missing child, Ethan Hoover. They build the case from scratch, catching the cracks in the police's investigation, but they are overwhelmed by the potential suspects—boyfriends of the divorced mother, a jealous older brother craving his father's attention, a neighborhood child predator, class bullies, and an over-involved Little League coach.
