Emily the Strange: Dark Times

Summary

Emily the Strange’s adventures are "pure black gold" (Booklist)!

Self-taught and self-reliant, Emily the Strange is going back to school—all the way back to the eighteenth century—to complete self-assigned homework and thwart her ancestral enemy while trying to avoid destroying the space-time continuum, documenting her gloriously quirky adventure in a black-and-red-art-filled paper-over-board journal.

It’s a family-bonding, time-travel extravaganza when Emily uses her homemade Time-Out Machine to travel back to the 1790s to unravel a familial mystery and save the life of her mysterious great-great-many-times-great aunt. She has the perfect plan for how to do this without changing history and while dodging her personal nemesis—but calamity strikes when the Time-Out Machine runs out of fuel, stranding Emily in the past. Will she ever get back to her own home? Fortunately, Emily is as resourceful as she is strange!

Internationally known, and instantly recognizable, New York Times bestseller Emily is a mad scientist, a cat lover, and a rock guitarist whose unequivocal message is that your greatest strength lies in being yourself. Told in Emily’s inimitable first-person narrative, this deliciously odd and irresistible tale is as delightful as it is unique.
