Summary

Griffin Callahan has never had to try. Not on the ice, not in any room, and never once with a woman.

Nothing he's ever wanted has cost him anything, and it's never been a problem for him. Until now. After the game of his life, he sleeps with the one woman he shouldn't. His agent.

Audrey Svensson signed him at twenty, before anyone had heard of him, and fourteen years later she's negotiated every contract of his career. She knows everything about him, and in all that time he has never once thought about her as anything but a friend, which is exactly why it works.

Then she's gone before morning, and neither of them ever brings it up. Griffin goes back to his life and finds he can't work up any interest in the women who used to be effortless. He's thinking about that night on a loop, every time he closes his eyes.

Now the firm she runs with her father is opening an office in Phoenix, and Audrey is here for a year to build it. She's signing new clients, taking meetings, laughing with other athletes at tables Griffin isn't sitting at. So he starts finding reasons. A dropped-off jersey. Dinner, because she has to eat anyway. Anything that fills her calendar with him instead of them.

Griffin can charm a room in four seconds and has no idea how to be in a relationship. Now he's got one year to convince Audrey he's boyfriend material.
