William Langewiesche (1955–2025), author and journalist, wrote nine books, including American Ground, which was a New York Times bestseller and a finalist for the National Book Critic’s Circle Award. As a journalist—and winner of two National Magazine Awards—he wrote for the New York Times, Vanity Fair, and the Atlantic Monthly.
