Author Bio: Maxine Clair

Maxine Clair is the author of Rattlebone, a collection of short stories that won the Chicago Tribune’s Heartland Prize for fiction; a collection of poems, Coping with Gravity; and a fiction chapbook, October Brown, which won Baltimore’s Artscape Prize. Born and raised in Kansas City, she worked for many years as chief medical technologist at the Children’s Medical Center in Washington, DC. She is now an associate professor of English at George Washington University and lives in Maryland.
