Summary

Jace Hawthorne didn’t want to be a hero.

Fresh from a brutal rescue that freed thousands from an orbital detention complex, Jace and the crew of the Revenant are on the run. They’re wounded, hunted, and stretched to the breaking point. But Rising Dawn needs a leader. The rebellion needs a symbol of hope.

Jace’s body is failing him, his nerves rewritten by alien technology that gives him command of an ancient warship at a terrible price. His mother is alive but fading fast. The only way to save her may require trusting former alien enemies, risking deadly betrayal, and pushing the Revenant into the heart of Overlord-controlled space.

Meanwhile, new allies emerge from forgotten civilizations, including hibernating warriors trained for a war they never got to fight. Known as the Future Guard, their resurrection could change everything … or doom the rebellion entirely.

As enemies close in and loyalties fracture, Jace must confront the truth: winning the war may cost him everything he’s fighting for.
