Summary

A Cuban EmigrE who came to America when she was five years old, Edie ColOn based Good-Bye, Havana! Hola, New York! on her own experiences as a young child in her new homeland. When Gabriela hears talk of revolution and Castro in her native Cuba, she just doesn't understand. Then her parents leave her with her grandparents, and she's only further confused. It isn't until she is reunited with her parents in a strange place called the Bronx that she begins to make sense of things. But how long will it take for the Bronx to feel like home?
