Summary

Summary

When Bishop learns of Carstairs’ intention to send Mrs. Pollifax to Africa in search of a professional killer with the unlikely nom de guerre of “Aristotle,” he argues about the wisdom of this idea.

“She’s tangled with them before,” points out Carstairs, “but this time she doesn’t have to tangle with anyone at all, just take photographs.”

So, with a new bulbous straw hat (which looks remarkably like a cork helmet), a multi-colored sun umbrella, and a lapel pin containing a miniature camera capable of taking 40 snapshots, Mrs. Pollifax embarks for Zambia.

Of course, the good-natured grandmother from New Brunswick ends up finding a little good in all of her fellow explorers. But when someone sneaks into her room while she is bathing and swipes her first completed roll of film, Mrs. Pollifax realizes there is a dangerous creature nearby—far more dangerous than anything she might stumble across in the jungle.
