Summary

Summary

Ever since Paddington started working in the garden, it’s been a bit quieter in the Brown household. But with Paddington around, things never stay quiet for long. From a paw-sticking toffee disaster to a slight scorching of Father Christmas’s beard, Paddington brings a splash of adventure to every day.

Paddington at Large is the fifth novel by Michael Bond, chronicling the adventures of this classic character. Paddington has warmed the hearts of generations of readers with his earnest good intentions and humorous misadventures.

Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

“Hugh Bonneville’s spirited narration brings out the lovable bear’s charming, albeit chaos-producing, curiosity in his day-to-day activities…Sporting a medley of voices, Bonneville captures the diverse personalities of local townsfolk who come into contact with Paddington, such as the colorful characters in the department store. Equally entertaining are Bonneville’s falsetto voices for the female roles, including the patient Mrs. Brown and the sometimes-flustered Mrs. Bird, who do their best to guide Paddington and help him fix his mistakes. A delightful listening experience.” AudioFile
“Under a bright, newly designed dust jacket lies the same old beloved Paddington, the always dignified, well-meaning, but trouble making bear from ‘darkest Peru.’ Young readers will enjoy this reissue of the 1962 classic, which includes some of Paddington’s best adventures.” Booklist
“Paddington remains as ingenuous and endearing as ever in these short stories, whether he’s riding a runaway lawnmower, trying his paw at taffy making, or appearing as a contestant on a TV quiz show.” Horn Book Guide
“Young readers will find it almost impossible to keep a straight face as they read the…stories in this book…One of the funniest and most lovable book characters ever created.” Through the Looking Glass Children’s Book Reviews
“Michael Bond’s accident-prone bear…has become one of the most enduring of children’s characters.” Bookseller
