Summary

Summary

In this first book of the bestselling cult series, Armistead Maupin creates a hilarious take-off on the “hip” 1970s in San Francisco. When Mary Ann, age twenty-five and naive, joins Anna Madrigal’s apartment house at 28 Barbary Lane, with its eccentric, unique, and bizarre renters, she knows she has a lot to learn about love and vice—and this is the group to teach her.

Tales of the City is both a sparkling comedy of manners and an indelible portrait of an era that forever changed the way we live.
