The Venice Flats

Summary

A grief-stricken, stoned, lonely Anthropological grad student infiltrates the Venice Beach Chapter of the Flat Earth and unexpectedly finds himself leading their  investigation into the shocking disappearance of their chapter president.

UCLA graduate student Pascal Froth sets out to infiltrate the Venice Beach Chapter House of the Flat Earth as part of his capstone research in anthropology. With the tentative approval of his advisor, and few ethical guardrails, Pascal embeds himself among a group of coastal outsiders to understand the roots of their unconventional worldview.

When the chapter president, Yvonne, vanishes, Pascal volunteers to lead the search, hoping to both help and further his “undercover” research. His investigation is over-shadowed by smart aleck Detective Cadence Alison, whose skepticism and humor challenge Pascal’s methods and motives.

As Pascal’s undercover status unravels his trust within the group erodes, just as he is getting closer to the truth …

For lovers of comedic, character-driven California noir thrillers, The Venice Flats is Kem Nunn meets Carl Hiassen meets Janet Evanovich.
